Dubai Expands AI-Powered ‘Red Carpet’ Smart Corridor at DXB
Dubai: The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has announced a major upgrade to the AI-powered ‘Red Carpet’ smart corridor at Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport. Soon, the enhanced system will serve both departing and arriving passengers, allowing travellers to pass through passport control without presenting physical travel documents.
The upgraded corridor can handle up to 10 passengers simultaneously, reducing processing time to just 6–14 seconds per traveller. With AI at its core, the system eliminates traditional passport checks while scanning and verifying multiple passengers at once.
The smart corridor automatically pre-identifies passengers, verifies credentials, and flags any unusual cases for manual inspection. This approach doubles efficiency while maintaining strict security standards.
Testers praised the system for its speed, smooth experience, and user-friendly design, noting it outperformed similar solutions at airports like London Heathrow and New York JFK. Experts say Dubai’s innovation is setting a new global benchmark for smart airport immigration.
