The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has firmly established itself as one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency hubs, earning a position among the top five global destinations for crypto investors. The milestone was highlighted in the Crypto Wealth Report 2025 by Henley & Partners, which shows the UAE’s growing reputation as a magnet for digital asset millionaires.
One of the biggest reasons behind this success is the nation’s perfect tax score. The UAE imposes zero levies on cryptocurrency trading, staking, and mining. This puts it in the same league as other global crypto-friendly destinations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and the United States. For high-net-worth individuals, this tax-friendly approach provides a significant incentive to relocate wealth and businesses to the Gulf nation.
According to the report, the number of global crypto millionaires has reached 241,700 individuals, representing a 40 per cent growth in just 12 months. Bitcoin millionaires alone grew by 70 per cent, with over 145,000 holders now controlling at least $1 million worth of the asset. At the same time, the total cryptocurrency market cap hit $3.3 trillion in June 2025, marking a 45 per cent increase from the previous year.
The growth has also been reflected at the higher end of the wealth scale. There are now 450 centi-millionaires holding crypto portfolios worth over $100 million, while the number of crypto billionaires has climbed to 36, showing a 29 per cent rise year-on-year.
This massive expansion of digital wealth has created a new class of globally mobile investors. As Dominic Volek, Group Head of Private Clients at Henley & Partners, explained, cryptocurrency has “made geography optional.” With only a seed phrase, investors can move billions of dollars instantly across borders, making tax-friendly destinations like the UAE increasingly attractive.
The UAE’s climb into the top five has not happened by accident. The government has consistently backed blockchain adoption and crypto regulation. The launch of Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) has provided a structured framework for digital assets, ensuring investor protection while encouraging innovation.
Additionally, the Central Bank’s Digital Dirham initiative signals the country’s readiness to embrace central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), further cementing its role as a financial innovator. This mix of forward-thinking regulation and infrastructure is a major reason why both retail and institutional crypto players view the UAE as a safe and profitable hub.
While the UAE has achieved a perfect tax score, other regions are also competing in the crypto economy. Singapore remains a leader with strong infrastructure and regulatory clarity, while Thailand recently announced a five-year capital gains exemption for crypto traders. Malaysia is building its fintech capabilities through its Digital Free Trade Zone initiatives.
However, the UAE stands out by combining tax advantages with world-class infrastructure, lifestyle benefits, and global connectivity. As Catherine Chen, Head of VIP & Institutional at Binance, noted, high-net-worth crypto investors are increasingly using citizenship and residency programs to secure financial flexibility, and the UAE’s position in this space makes it an attractive destination.
The Henley Crypto Adoption Index assessed 29 jurisdictions across six categories: public adoption, infrastructure, innovation, regulation, economic environment, and tax friendliness. The UAE performed strongly across all indicators, showing that its policies are not just tax-driven but also designed to support long-term growth.
Andrew Amoils, Head of Research at New World Wealth, emphasized the mobility of this new wealth class. He noted that crypto millionaires and billionaires are among the most globally mobile individuals, moving assets and residence to countries that align with their financial strategies. The UAE, with its tax-friendly environment and investor residency programs, benefits directly from this trend.
The UAE’s emergence as a global crypto hub reflects a broader strategy to diversify its economy beyond oil. By embracing blockchain and digital assets, the nation is positioning itself at the forefront of the financial future. With continued government support, investor-friendly regulations, and zero crypto taxes, the UAE is not just a safe haven for wealth—it is becoming a launchpad for innovation.
As the crypto industry expands, experts believe that the UAE’s mix of policy support, lifestyle appeal, and global access will ensure its place as a top destination for crypto millionaires for years to come.
