Parents in Dubai can now apply for their child’s birth certificate completely online, thanks to a new digital service introduced by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). The initiative allows residents to issue, replace, or request copies of birth certificates without visiting a DHA service centre — streamlining what was once a multi-step process into a few easy clicks.
The online birth certificate system is part of Dubai’s ongoing smart government transformation, aimed at improving efficiency and convenience for families. By digitising the application process, the DHA ensures that parents can receive official documents faster, with enhanced accuracy and accessibility.
According to the DHA, “The digital birth certificate service provides parents with a faster and more convenient experience, reducing the need for physical visits and paperwork.”
Once a child is born in Dubai, the hospital where the birth took place uploads the birth notification and supporting details through DHA’s electronic system. Parents are then notified and can proceed with the online application from home.
Through the DHA portal, parents can:
Issue a new birth certificate
Request a replacement if the original is lost
Order additional certified copies
Certificates are available in Arabic, English, or Urdu, and can be delivered via email or mobile, with an option to receive a printed copy through a courier service.
Processing typically takes one working day, provided all required documents are submitted correctly.
The list of documents depends on the applicant’s nationality.
Original Emirates ID or Family Book (for both parents)
Original marriage certificate — authenticated if issued outside the UAE
Original birth notification stamped by the hospital
Digital copies of the above documents (to be uploaded online after verification)
Original Emirates ID or passport (for both parents)
Original marriage certificate — authenticated if issued outside the UAE
Original birth notification stamped by the hospital
Digital copies of these documents for upload
If the birth certificate is lost, either parent can submit an online request for a replacement copy.
You will need to:
Submit the application through the DHA website
Upload copies of both parents’ Emirates IDs or passports
Provide a police report confirming the loss (if the original certificate is unavailable)
If you need extra copies of the certificate for official use:
Submit a request online via the DHA website
Upload a copy of the original certificate
Attach copies of both parents’ Emirates IDs or passports

The launch of this online service underscores Dubai’s commitment to building a fully digitized government ecosystem. Similar initiatives across health, civil registration, and immigration services have significantly reduced waiting times and improved access for residents and citizens alike.
By introducing end-to-end online solutions, the DHA is not only saving parents time but also helping Dubai move closer to its Smart City 2030 vision — where every essential government service can be accessed digitally and securely from anywhere.
In short: Parents in Dubai can now complete their child’s birth registration process in just minutes online — eliminating paperwork, queues, and in-person visits. It’s a practical example of how digital transformation is making life smoother for families across the UAE.
