Abu Dhabi BAPS Temple Head Urges Global Doctors to ‘ReInvent’

Abu Dhabi BAPS Temple Head Urges Medical Community to ‘ReInvent’

Swami Brahmaviharidas, the head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, has called on the global medical community to transform the way they approach healthcare. Speaking to hundreds of doctors and medical students in Tbilisi and Batumi, Georgia, he urged them to “ReInvent” themselves by placing purpose, resilience, and compassion at the heart of their work.

His keynote address, titled ‘ReInvent Yourself’, was delivered before a gathering of more than 700 medical professionals, educators, diplomats, and community leaders. The message was clear: genuine healing can only happen when doctors reconnect with their inner values and embrace a more human-centred practice.

Healing Begins With the Healer

In his powerful address, Swami Brahmaviharidas emphasised that modern healthcare must go beyond technology, medication, and diagnosis. He said that for a doctor to truly heal a patient, they must first strengthen their inner world.

“To truly heal a patient, a doctor must first be a healer,” he told the audience. “A healer is self-grounded in purpose, resilience, and compassion.”

He encouraged doctors, nurses, and students to view their medical careers not just as professions but as continuous journeys of self-improvement. According to him, a medical professional’s emotional balance, clarity, and spiritual grounding deeply influence how they care for patients.

The Abu Dhabi BAPS Hindu Mandir: A Living Example of Unity

During his speech, Swami highlighted the significance of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, the first traditional sandstone temple in the Middle East. He described the mandir as a global symbol of harmony, unity, and collective purpose — values that reflect the essence of healthcare.

“This temple serves as a powerful metaphor for what humanity can build on a foundation of love, harmony, and mutual respect,” he said.

He acknowledged the vision and support of the UAE leadership, whose commitment made the temple possible. According to Swami, the mandir stands as a reminder of the impact that compassion and cooperation can have on communities worldwide.

Distinguished Guests Join the Sessions

The two major sessions in Georgia saw participation from several influential figures, including:

Dr. Goderdzi Buchashvili, Chairman of the Council of Higher and General Educational Institutions

Subbu Ramesh, Charge d’Affaires and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of India in Georgia

Dr. Gia Kavtelishvili, Founder and Rector of Georgian National University SEU

Dr. Mukhamed Artmeladze, Rector of Avicenna Batumi Medical University and President of the Batumi Medical Center

Emzar Kakhidze, Head of the National Museum of Adjara

Maka Kajaia, Mayor’s Office Cultural Department

Their presence underscored the significance of Swami’s message and the growing global dialogue on improving healthcare through compassion, cultural understanding, and spiritual well-being.

Cultural and Educational Exchange Strengthened

Beyond the keynote sessions, Swami Brahmaviharidas and members of the BAPS delegation held meaningful interactions with leaders at SEU and Avicenna University. These meetings focused on building cultural, educational, and spiritual partnerships between Georgia and the BAPS organisation.

The discussions explored areas such as values-based education, student development, and integrating cultural understanding into modern learning environments. Both institutions expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations.

Foundation Laid for Two BAPS Culture Centres

The visit concluded with a significant milestone. With the blessings of Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the BAPS organisation, Swami Brahmaviharidas laid the foundation stones for two BAPS Culture Centres — one in Tbilisi and one in Batumi.

These centres will:

Promote cultural awareness

Support community activities

Foster spiritual learning

Serve as hubs for humanitarian initiatives

The establishment of the centres marks an important step in strengthening ties with Georgia and extending BAPS’ global outreach of peace, harmony, and service.

A Message That Resonates Worldwide

Swami’s call to “ReInvent” holds deep relevance at a time when healthcare professionals across the world are dealing with stress, long hours, and increasing challenges. By highlighting the importance of compassion and purpose, he reminded the medical community that healing is not only a physical process but an emotional and spiritual one as well.

His message, combined with the global recognition of the Abu Dhabi BAPS Hindu Mandir as a symbol of unity, reinforces the idea that compassion-driven healthcare can elevate both medical practice and human connection.
