The legislation, effective immediately, underscores the country’s commitment to <strong>ethical, responsible, and licensed media practices</strong>.</p><h3>Key Offences and Penalties</h3><p><strong>Religious &amp; Moral Violations</strong>:</p><p>Insulting religious beliefs or the Divine Essence: Up to Dh1,000,000</p><p>Violating public morals or promoting harmful ideologies: Up to Dh100,000</p><p>Publishing content inciting crimes (murder, rape, drug use): Up to Dh150,000</p><p><strong>Violations Against the State</strong>:</p><p>Disrespecting national symbols, ruling system, or government institutions: Dh50,000–Dh500,000</p><p>Criticizing domestic or foreign policy: Dh50,000–Dh500,000</p><p>Publishing material threatening national unity or foreign relations: Up to Dh250,000</p><p><strong>Licensing Offences</strong>:</p><p>Operating without a valid licence: Dh10,000 (first offence), Dh40,000 (repeat)</p><p>Failure to renew within 30 days: Dh150 per day (max Dh3,000)</p><p>Continuing operations with an expired licence: Dh10,000–Dh20,000, doubling with repetition</p><p><strong>False Information &amp; Events</strong>:</p><p>Spreading false news: Dh5,000 (first offence), Dh10,000 (repeat)</p><p>Organising book fairs without permission: Dh40,000</p><p>Printing/distributing unlicensed content: Dh20,000</p><p><strong>Foreign Correspondents</strong>:</p><p>Working unlicensed: Three warnings, then Dh10,000 fine</p><h3>Supporting Media Professionals</h3><p>Alongside penalties, the law also aims to <strong>support and regulate media professionals and social media influencers</strong>, reinforcing transparency, accountability, and professionalism across all platforms.</p>
