In a significant move to strengthen safety and emergency preparedness within Abu Dhabi’s industrial sector, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) — the UAE’s largest industrial company outside the oil and gas sector.
The partnership aims to enhance fire prevention measures, improve emergency response efficiency, and promote the adoption of international best practices in industrial safety across the Al Taweelah Industrial Area and beyond.
Building on a longstanding relationship between the two entities, this new agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for joint training, technical knowledge exchange, and advanced safety integration.
It also sets a national benchmark for collaboration between the public and private sectors in the field of civil protection, paving the way for stronger partnerships between government agencies and major industries.
Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, representing the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, described the agreement as “a qualitative step towards strengthening strategic partnerships between the government and the industrial sector.”
He emphasized that working closely with Emirates Global Aluminium, a major player in the UAE’s industrial landscape, reflects the Authority’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety and enhancing readiness to manage emergencies within vital facilities.
Colonel Dr. Faisal Hassan Al Qahtani, Acting Director of the Civil Protection Sector, highlighted the agreement’s importance as a first-of-its-kind collaboration with a major industrial entity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
“This partnership stands as a model of integrated cooperation,” he said. “It boosts emergency response efficiency, strengthens operational readiness, and aligns with the highest international safety standards. It sets a benchmark for future collaborations between the Authority and the industrial sector.”
The partnership will see both organizations exchange expertise, conduct joint training drills, and develop modern fire safety protocols tailored to industrial environments. It also reinforces Abu Dhabi’s strategy to maintain global leadership in safety, sustainability, and resilience.
As one of the UAE’s most safety-driven companies, Emirates Global Aluminium operates some of the most advanced industrial fire protection systems in the country.
EGA’s facilities at Al Taweelah (Abu Dhabi) and Jebel Ali (Dubai) each house fully equipped fire stations, staffed by 72 trained firefighters, including four women professionals, available 24/7.
These teams are capable of responding to any emergency within five minutes, utilizing state-of-the-art firefighting vehicles, rescue tools, and hazard mitigation systems.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA, expressed pride in the collaboration, saying:
“For decades, EGA has maintained its own Fire and Rescue service to deal with any emergency on our sites. Our goal is to continuously improve, as in all areas of our operations. By sharing best practices with Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, we aim to further strengthen our capacity and help raise safety standards across the industrial sector.”
EGA strictly adheres to the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice and follows international firefighting and emergency management standards, ensuring its facilities operate at the highest level of safety and preparedness.
This agreement forms part of a broader national effort to ensure that industrial growth aligns with safety, sustainability, and community protection.
The collaboration supports the UAE’s leadership vision to create a secure and sustainable industrial environment, one that safeguards lives, protects assets, and reinforces the nation’s position as a global model for safety innovation.
Both the Civil Defence Authority and EGA will continue to coordinate on:
Developing safety awareness programmes for industrial workers
Conducting joint emergency response exercises
Exchanging data and best practices in fire prevention and crisis management
Standardizing safety systems across industrial operations
These efforts aim to build an integrated safety framework that can respond effectively to emergencies while fostering continuous learning and technical advancement.
The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence–EGA partnership represents more than just an agreement; it’s a blueprint for future cooperation between regulatory authorities and private enterprises. By aligning goals, resources, and expertise, the two entities are helping shape a safer industrial ecosystem — one that protects workers, strengthens infrastructure, and enhances national resilience.
“This collaboration reflects the UAE’s dedication to proactive safety management and innovation,” said Brigadier Al Dhaheri. “Together, we are building a safer, stronger, and more sustainable industrial future.”
