UAE Unites with a 1.2km Handwoven Flag on Eid Al Etihad

<p>The spirit of unity shone brightly in Al Ain as the UAE celebrated Eid Al Etihad with a historic and emotional national event. The Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination organized a grand gathering titled <strong>“March of the Nation”</strong>, bringing together people from across the country in a powerful demonstration of loyalty, pride, and community. The celebration also coincided with the 54th UAE National Day, adding even more significance to the occasion.</p><p>One of the most iconic moments of the event was the unveiling of a <strong>1.2-kilometre-long UAE flag</strong>, carefully handwoven by 27 People of Determination from the organization’s vocational rehabilitation workshops in Al Ain. This enormous flag was not just a symbol of celebration—it represented strength, determination, and the ability of every individual to contribute to the nation’s progress. As the flag was raised, it created a moment filled with emotion and national pride, capturing the hearts of everyone present.</p><p>The event attracted <strong>more than 16,000 participants</strong>, making it one of the most impressive community gatherings of the year. People from different walks of life—children, senior citizens, students, government employees, private sector staff, and military recruits—joined the march to express their love for the UAE. Mounted police units and the Abu Dhabi Police Band added a ceremonial touch to the celebration, creating a patriotic atmosphere filled with music, energy, and unity.</p><p>A major highlight of the march was the collective achievement of recording <strong>over 54 million steps</strong>. On average, each participant completed around <strong>3,375 steps</strong>, covering a distance of approximately <strong>2.5 kilometres</strong>. These steps were more than just numbers—they symbolized a shared commitment to the values of the UAE: inclusion, determination, and community strength. The initiative sent a strong message that the UAE is a homeland for everyone, where people stand together regardless of age, background, or ability.</p><p>Abdulla Abdulal Al Humaidan, Director-General of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, expressed deep pride in the event. He emphasized that the march was not only a national celebration but also a meaningful message of belonging. He highlighted that the UAE always prioritizes individuals and their empowerment, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the country’s development. According to him, the sight of People of Determination raising the massive flag was a clear example of the leadership’s belief in their skills and the essential role they play in society.</p><p>Mouza Al Salami, Director of the Abu Dhabi Autism Center, also shared her admiration for the event. She expressed pride in the participation of People of Determination and highlighted how events like this help strengthen their confidence and involvement in national activities. Their contribution to weaving the flag and participating in the march showcased their abilities, dedication, and love for the country.</p><p>The success of the “March of the Nation” was made possible through major support from <strong>First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)</strong>, along with several partners of the organization. Their collaboration ensured smooth organization, safety, and an enjoyable experience for all participants. Additional supporting partners also played an important role in making the event a memorable national celebration.</p><p>Overall, the celebration in Al Ain became a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and national pride. The 1.2km flag, the millions of steps, and the massive participation all highlighted the UAE’s commitment to inclusiveness and community spirit.
