Dubai Hit by Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

UAE Weather Update: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Sweep Across Dubai

Dubai: Dubai experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds on Thursday, signaling a notable shift in weather and offering temporary relief from the summer heat. The downpour is expected to continue into Friday, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).

Social media videos showed intense rain near Al Maktoum Airport, with storm clouds covering large parts of the city. The NCM issued orange and yellow alerts, warning of dusty conditions, reduced visibility, and hazardous winds. Wind gusts may reach up to 60 km/h, particularly in eastern and southern areas, causing blowing dust and sand.

Officials urged residents to stay indoors where possible and advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel. Those on the roads are being cautioned to remain vigilant due to slippery surfaces and low visibility. The NCM attributed the weather change to low-pressure systems moving in from the south.

Forecast for Friday, 5 September 2025:

Sky: Fair to partly cloudy, with convective cloud formation likely in eastern and western areas.

Rainfall: Possible at night and into Saturday morning in northern and eastern regions.

Winds: 10–25 km/h, strengthening up to 45 km/h, raising dust and sand.

Seas: Slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf; slight in the Oman Sea.

Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely and urge the public to follow official updates to stay safe.
