Dubai to Host Record-Breaking 2025 Asian Youth Para Games

<p>Dubai is preparing to welcome the largest-ever gathering of young Para athletes as the <strong>2025 Asian Youth Para Games</strong> returns to the emirate from December 10 to 13. With more than <strong>1,500 athletes representing 35 nations</strong>, this edition will be the biggest in the event’s history, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in hosting inclusive and high-profile sporting competitions.</p><p>This will be the second time Dubai hosts the Games after the successful 2017 edition. Over the years, the UAE has built a strong reputation for organising world-class sporting events, and the 2025 Games are expected to raise that benchmark even higher.</p><h3><strong>A Historic and Expansive Sporting Programme</strong></h3><p>The 2025 Asian Youth Para Games will feature an impressive <strong>11 Para sports</strong>, spread across <strong>eight world-class venues</strong> across Dubai. The opening ceremony will take place on December 10 at the Dubai Club for People of Determination Stadium, setting the tone for four days of exciting competition, unity, and sportsmanship.</p><p>Athletes will compete in a wide range of disciplines, including:</p><p>Para Athletics</p><p>Para Swimming</p><p>Boccia</p><p>Para Powerlifting</p><p>Para Table Tennis</p><p>Para Archery</p><p>Goalball</p><p>Para Badminton</p><p>Wheelchair Basketball</p><p>Para Taekwondo</p><p>Para Armwrestling (making its debut at the Games)</p><p>The inclusion of Para Armwrestling adds a fresh dimension to the Games and highlights the evolving landscape of Para sports in Asia.</p><h3><strong>Nations Set to Shine</strong></h3><p>Among the participating countries, <strong>Iran</strong> will send the largest delegation, with <strong>195 athletes</strong>. Iran previously dominated the 2021 edition in Bahrain, securing 51 gold medals and topping the medal table. The <strong>UAE</strong>, as the host nation, will proudly field <strong>55 athletes</strong>, showcasing strong local talent and the nation’s ongoing commitment to supporting People of Determination in sports.</p><p>Teams from across Asia will come together to celebrate resilience, determination, and the spirit of fair competition—core values that define Para sport and inspire athletes and spectators alike.</p><h3><strong>Dubai’s Commitment to Sporting Excellence</strong></h3><p>The announcement of the Games was marked by strong expressions of pride and confidence from senior officials. <strong>Saeed Hareb</strong>, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, emphasised that the timing of the event coincides with the UAE’s <strong>Eid Al Etihad</strong> celebrations, adding national pride to the occasion.</p><p>He noted that hosting the Asian Youth Para Games for a second time reflects the UAE’s world-class organisational capabilities and the trust the international sporting community places in Dubai. “Our citizens continue to shine in every event we host,” he said, acknowledging the dedication of those involved in delivering such major events.</p><h3><strong>Overcoming Challenges for a Greater Purpose</strong></h3><p><strong>Thani Juma Berregad</strong>, Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the challenges faced during preparations—particularly time limitations and logistical demands.
