Missiles Target Kuwait and Bahrain Amid Rising US-Iran Conflict
Ahead of the Eid Al Adha holiday rush, Abu Dhabi Police have issued an important road safety warning, urging motorists not to use mobile phones while driving to send or read Eid greeting messages. Authorities stressed that even a few seconds of distraction can result in serious traffic accidents.
Police officials reminded residents that roads across the UAE are expected to witness heavy traffic during Eid due to family gatherings, prayers, shopping trips, and holiday travel. Because of increased vehicle movement, authorities are encouraging drivers to remain fully focused while behind the wheel.
According to the advisory, motorists should avoid using messaging apps and social media platforms while driving, even for quick Eid congratulatory messages. Officials warned that distracted driving reduces reaction time and increases the possibility of losing control of the vehicle during sudden situations.
Abu Dhabi Police advised residents to send Eid wishes either before starting their journey or after parking safely. The authority emphasised that road safety should remain the top priority during the festive season.
Traffic experts say mobile phone distractions continue to be one of the leading causes of road accidents globally. Reading notifications, typing messages, or briefly checking a screen can take a driverās attention away from the road long enough to cause collisions. Authorities across the UAE have repeatedly launched awareness campaigns to reduce distracted driving incidents.
The warning comes as UAE authorities intensify public safety campaigns during Eid Al Adha. Police departments in different emirates are increasing patrols, monitoring traffic movement, and encouraging motorists to follow speed limits and traffic regulations throughout the holiday period.
Officials also highlighted that using mobile phones while driving not only endangers the driver but also puts passengers, pedestrians, and other road users at risk. Authorities urged motorists to adopt responsible driving habits and help create safer roads for everyone during Eid celebrations.
In recent years, UAE authorities have introduced multiple traffic safety initiatives, including smart warning systems, emergency mobile alerts, and AI-based traffic monitoring technologies aimed at reducing accidents and improving public safety.
Residents across the UAE are expected to travel extensively during the Eid break, especially between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and the northern emirates. Traffic congestion is anticipated near mosques, malls, tourist attractions, and residential communities during peak holiday hours.
Authorities have encouraged drivers to remain patient, avoid reckless driving, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and obey traffic signs during the festive period. Special attention is also being placed on reducing speeding, lane violations, and distracted driving offences.
As families across the UAE prepare to celebrate Eid Al Adha with loved ones, Abu Dhabi Police say simple precautions such as avoiding phone usage while driving can play a major role in preventing accidents and ensuring a safe and peaceful holiday for everyone.
