Dubai Design Week 2026: Top Highlights to Explore from November 3 to 8

Dubai Design Week 2026: Top Highlights to Explore from November 3 to 8

Dubai Design Week will return for its 12th edition from November 3 to 8, 2026, bringing together designers, architects, artists, creative professionals and visitors from across the region and beyond.

Taking place across Dubai's creative community, the event will feature exhibitions, design installations, talks, workshops, architectural projects and public activities. This year's programme explores how design shapes everyday experiences, influences relationships and connects people with the spaces around them.

Downtown Design Brings Innovative Creations

Downtown Design, the flagship event of Dubai Design Week, will showcase contemporary design from international brands and regional creative talent.

Exhibition Director Mette Degen Christensen said the 2026 edition would introduce greater vibrancy and colour, moving beyond the beige tones and simplicity that have featured prominently in recent design trends.

The programme includes 156 exhibiting designers and brands, alongside activities and experiences. UAE-based creatives will also feature through initiatives such as the Emirati Designers Exhibition and Tanween, with Tashkeel participating in the programme.

The event aims to connect designers with suppliers and brands while supporting local production and the development of creative talent in the region.

A Seven-Metre Arabic Letter Drawn in Light

One of the featured installations comes from artist Dalia Rafeh, who is participating in the 'Doors' exhibition.

Her work centres on the Arabic letter 'Sheen', extending seven metres and created using light. The installation explores silence, expression, identity and the relationship between language and emotion.

Rafeh drew inspiration from traffic lights and the visual environment of large cities. Through the use of Arabic script, she also highlights the importance of language as a form of cultural identity and personal expression.

Architecture Inspired by Nature and Climate

The 'Civil Works' competition explores the theme 'Climatology of Place', examining how light, temperature, sound, materials and spatial design influence people's experiences of an environment.

The winning proposal, 'Three Gardens and a Grave' by NE Architects, responds to Dubai's built environment by exploring ways to reconnect people with nature.

Architect Reem Nassour, founder of NE Architects, explained that the project considers how colours, smells and heat affect people's sense of place.

The design includes three pavilions and architectural spaces, with an emphasis on the relationships between the structures, surrounding nature and people. Native UAE tree species, traditional mashrabiya-inspired elements and carefully selected materials contribute to the project's approach to shade, climate and the local environment.

Dubai Design Week Market: November 7 and 8

The Dubai Design Week Market will take place over the weekend of November 7 and 8 at Dubai Design District (d3).

The curated outdoor market will provide a platform for local businesses and independent makers from the UAE and the wider region. Visitors can explore handcrafted products, including homeware, jewellery, fashion, lifestyle items and sustainably produced goods.

The market will also feature culinary experiences, children's activities and live performances, creating a community-focused space for creativity and craftsmanship.

A Celebration of Regional Creativity

With exhibitions, architectural installations, contemporary products and public activities, Dubai Design Week 2026 will highlight the role of design in shaping how people live, interact and experience their surroundings.

The event will offer opportunities to discover emerging regional talent, explore innovative materials and experience creative projects that combine cultural identity, sustainability and contemporary design.
