iPhone Duo Launches in UAE: First Customer Buys Apple's First Foldable Phone
Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, officially went on sale in UAE stores on October 23, 2026, attracting Apple fans to the company's retail store at Dubai Mall.
According to Khaleej Times, the store opened at 8 am, with Mohammed Shaka becoming the first customer to purchase the new device. He arrived at around 5 am and has a long history of buying Apple products. Shaka said he owns 53 Apple devices and wanted to experience Apple's first foldable smartphone.
This was reportedly the third time he had been first in line for an iPhone launch. He had also been the first customer during the iPhone 17 series and iPhone 18 Pro launches.

The device is available in four storage configurations, with the following prices reported in the UAE:
256GB: AED 8,499
512GB: AED 9,349
1TB: AED 11,049
2TB: AED 13,599
The highest-storage model is priced at AED 13,599, making it a premium device in Apple's lineup.
Design and Camera Features
The iPhone Duo features a foldable design with two screens and two cameras. According to the report, its outer screen includes a 12MP selfie camera, while the inner screen uses an under-display camera. The device does not include a telephoto lens.
Apple opened pre-orders on October 16, 2026, and announced that in-store availability would be limited. The launch attracted significant attention, with customers eager to experience Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone market.
Although foldable phones are already available from competing manufacturers, the iPhone Duo marks a new chapter for Apple's smartphone lineup. Its premium pricing, distinctive design and strong customer interest made the UAE launch a major event for Apple fans.
