Abu Dhabi Police Offer Up to 35% Flexible Traffic Fine Discounts Under New Awareness Campaign

Motorists in Abu Dhabi now have a reason to pay their traffic fines early — and save big. The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), has launched the “Initiate and Benefit” awareness campaign offering flexible discounts of up to 35% on traffic fines. The initiative aims to encourage drivers to clear their fines promptly, promote responsible driving habits, and strengthen road safety across the emirate.

The new campaign has been rolled out through an innovative awareness drive, broadcasting educational messages across public buses and taxis throughout Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. The move is part of the force’s broader commitment to using technology and public engagement to enhance community safety and compliance with traffic laws.

Wide Public Reach Through Transport Networks

The awareness campaign spans more than 700 public buses and 470 taxis, including 100 taxis equipped with rooftop screens and 370 with internal digital displays. These vehicles now feature short awareness videos that educate both drivers and passengers about the benefits of early fine payments and the importance of safe driving practices.

By leveraging public transport as a communication tool, Abu Dhabi Police ensures that messages reach residents, commuters, and tourists alike — making the initiative one of the most accessible and community-driven safety programs in the UAE.

Flexible Discount Options for Drivers

Explaining the details of the initiative, Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Baloushi, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate, said the program demonstrates the police’s commitment to expanding field awareness through modern and effective communication tools.

Under the “Initiate and Benefit” scheme:

Drivers can enjoy a 35% discount on fines if paid within 60 days of the violation date.

A 25% discount is available for payments made between 60 days and one year from the date of issuance.

High-risk violations, such as reckless driving or severe traffic offenses, are excluded from these discounts.

This flexible payment structure not only helps motorists manage their finances better but also incentivizes them to take timely action.

Brigadier Al Baloushi highlighted that the initiative supports Abu Dhabi’s digital transformation goals by promoting the use of smart payment channels. Motorists can now pay their fines easily through multiple online and offline services, including:

The TAMM digital platform

Customer Happiness Centres across the emirate

These platforms ensure seamless transactions, reduce paperwork, and help drivers stay informed about due dates and available discounts — all in line with the emirate’s vision of improving quality of life through smart governance.

Colonel Mohammed Salem Al Khateri, Deputy Director of the Traffic Fines Collection Department, added that broadcasting messages across taxis and buses aims to raise awareness about the early payment system and easy instalment plans available through partner banks.
