Dubai Removes Graffiti, Repaints Over 200 Buildings

Dubai: Unsightly graffiti is gradually disappearing from the city’s walls as Dubai Municipality launches a new community initiative to repaint defaced buildings. To date, more than 200 buildings have been restored, giving them a fresh and polished appearance.

The project, conducted in partnership with Nabd Al Emarat and the Volunteers.ae platform, goes beyond erasing random scribbles — it underscores Dubai’s commitment to a clean, sustainable, and visually appealing urban environment.

“Over 60 volunteers have already joined our teams, helping us repaint more than 200 walls since the initiative began,” said Abdulaziz Al Baloushi, Director of the Building Control Section.

Launched as part of the UAE’s Year of Community 2025, the initiative promotes civic participation and social responsibility. Colour samples are carefully matched with original walls to ensure consistent, high-quality repainting.

While graffiti is being removed, the city continues to support artistic murals in approved locations, transforming blank walls into vibrant cultural attractions.
