Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi has taken a significant leap toward smart mobility with the launch of its first autonomous delivery vehicle pilot programme. Unveiled in Masdar City, the initiative is led by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in partnership with K2 and EMX, the logistics arm of 7X, under the supervision of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC).
First Licence Plate for Self-Driving Delivery
A symbolic milestone of the project was the issuance of Abu Dhabi’s first official licence plate for an autonomous delivery vehicle, marking a regulatory advancement and signalling the city’s readiness to integrate autonomous technology into its transport ecosystem.
AI-Powered Smart Logistics
The “Auto-Delivery” vehicles, developed by Autogo, a K2 subsidiary, are equipped with artificial intelligence and smart mobility technologies. They can navigate urban streets, avoid obstacles, and deliver packages without human intervention. The Masdar City trial is designed to assess real-world performance, laying the foundation for wider adoption across Abu Dhabi.
