RTA Adds Direct Metro Route to Ease Red Line Rush
Dubai Metro Launches New Direct Red Line Service to Ease Peak-Hour Congestion
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new direct metro route on the Red Line to help commuters navigate busy hours more smoothly. The latest service connects Centrepoint Station to Al Fardan Exchange Station, providing an additional travel option during morning and evening rush hours.
This new route joins the existing direct connections ā Centrepoint to Expo City Dubai and Centrepoint to Life Pharmacy Station ā bringing the total to three direct Red Line links.
Enhanced Commuter Experience
Passengers can now enjoy shorter journeys and less crowded trains. Previously, travellers to Expo City Dubai or Life Pharmacy Station had to transfer at Jebel Ali, but the direct service now saves time and avoids delays. Red Line trains will alternate between Expo City Dubai and UAE Exchange, while also directly serving Life Pharmacy Station and Al Fardan Exchange Station. Commuters are encouraged to check real-time display boards for updates.
Reducing Congestion and Delays
Since its trial launch in August 2024, the direct routes have already cut overcrowding, reduced waiting times, and improved overall metro efficiency. Additional RTA staff were deployed initially to guide passengers and ensure smooth operations.
The new service is part of RTAās long-term urban mobility plan, aimed at boosting capacity and enhancing convenience as metro ridership continues to grow across Dubai.
