Sharjah Opens Kalba Medical Fitness Center to Enhance Community Health Services
Sharjah: In a move to strengthen healthcare accessibility and efficiency, Sharjah Municipality, in cooperation with Kalba Municipality, has inaugurated the first Medical Fitness Center in Kalba. The launch marks a major milestone in the emirateās commitment to expanding public health services and promoting community well-being.
The inauguration was held under the directives and supervision of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Rulerās Office in Kalba, and Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, along with senior officials, including Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Mazrouei, Director of Kalba Municipality, and Adel Omar Salem, Director of Public Health and Central Laboratories at Sharjah Municipality.
Expanding access to healthcare
The new Kalba Medical Fitness Center will offer comprehensive medical examination services required for residency applications and professional health cards, providing faster and more convenient healthcare solutions for residents, workers, and business owners in the eastern region of Sharjah.
Speaking at the opening, Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji said the center reflects Sharjah Municipalityās vision of expanding a network of modern, fully equipped medical fitness centers across the emirateās cities and regions.
āThis expansion supports our mission to ensure the health and well-being of all residents by offering world-class medical services under the supervision of qualified specialists,ā Al Tunaiji said.
He highlighted that the center is equipped with high-precision diagnostic and testing equipment capable of delivering results in record time. The facilityās design aligns with Sharjahās digital transformation strategy, allowing for smooth registration, testing, and electronic delivery of results.
Al Tunaiji added that the entire projectāfrom construction to equippingāwas completed in record time and began welcoming clients immediately after its official opening.
Fast, efficient, and digital-first
Adel Omar Salem, Director of Public Health and Central Laboratories, emphasized the centerās commitment to speed, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
āClients can now complete their medical examinations quickly and conveniently. After submitting their documents and providing a blood sample, they receive their results via SMS within just two hours,ā Salem explained.
He noted that the centerās medical and technical staff are highly trained to provide reliable and precise testing, maintaining the highest international standards.
āOur goal is to ensure every visitor experiences a smooth, efficient, and professional process. Customer happiness and trust remain at the heart of our operations,ā Salem added.
A model of collaboration and community well-being
Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Mazrouei, Director of Kalba Municipality, commended Sharjah Municipalityās close cooperation and logistical support in launching the center. He said that the project reflects the emirateās dedication to enhancing residentsā quality of life through strong inter-municipal collaboration.
āThe new center will save residents time and effort by providing essential medical services closer to home,ā Dr. Al Mazrouei said. āIt also supports Sharjahās status as the first Healthy City in the Middle East and North Africa, reaffirming its leadership in preventive healthcare and sustainable development.ā
He added that future plans include expanding the range of medical services offered at the Kalba center, transforming it into a comprehensive facility that addresses a wide spectrum of community health needs.
Monitoring clean air for a healthier Sharjah
In conjunction with the centerās inauguration, Sharjah Municipality also unveiled a mobile air quality monitoring unit designed to track pollution levels across various parts of the city. The advanced vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art sensors to detect gases such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, ozone, sulfur oxides, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10).
The data collected from these sensors will enable the municipality to identify pollution trends and design targeted environmental initiatives. Future plans include increasing green coverage and tree planting in high-traffic areas, contributing to cleaner air and a more sustainable urban environment.
With the launch of the Kalba Medical Fitness Center and new air quality initiatives, Sharjah continues to strengthen its reputation as a leader in public health innovation, digital transformation, and environmental sustainability ā ensuring that residents across the emirate benefit from high-quality, efficient, and future-ready services.
