Iran Military Says It Will Respond if US Blockade and ‘Banditry’ Continue

Iran’s military has issued a strong warning to the United States, saying it will respond if Washington continues its naval blockade, which Tehran has described as “banditry” and an illegal act.

Iranian officials argue that the US blockade of vessels linked to Iranian ports is a violation of international law and threatens the fragile ceasefire currently in place. They have warned that continued restrictions on shipping could provoke a direct response from Iranian forces.

The United States, however, has expanded its naval operations in the region, enforcing strict controls on vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports. US officials say the blockade is part of broader efforts to pressure Iran into negotiations and curb its strategic capabilities.

Tensions have escalated around key maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil corridor. Iranian authorities have previously threatened that if their ports or shipping routes are targeted, “no port in the region will be safe,” raising fears of wider disruption to international trade.

Meanwhile, the fragile ceasefire remains under strain, with both sides accusing each other of violations. Analysts warn that continued military and economic pressure, combined with escalating rhetoric, could lead to renewed conflict if diplomatic efforts fail.

Despite ongoing indirect talks, major differences remain unresolved, leaving the situation highly volatile. Any further escalation in the maritime standoff could have serious consequences for regional stability and global energy markets.
