US-Iran Ceasefire: Tehran Claims US Is Trapped in a War Quagmire of Its Own Making

Iran has intensified its rhetoric against the United States, claiming Washington is now trapped in a prolonged conflict it initiated, describing the situation as a “war quagmire of its own making.” The remarks come as a fragile ceasefire between the two sides continues to hold, even as diplomatic efforts remain uncertain.

Iranian officials argue that the US lacks a clear exit strategy, pointing to shifting military and political approaches since the conflict began. Analysts have also noted growing concerns among US allies about Washington’s long-term plan, with uncertainty surrounding how the war will ultimately conclude.

The conflict, which has already caused significant geopolitical and economic disruption, continues to strain global markets—particularly energy supplies—while adding pressure on political leadership in Washington.

Meanwhile, the US has maintained strong military and economic pressure on Iran, including expanding naval operations and enforcing restrictions on maritime activity linked to Iranian ports.

Diplomatic efforts are ongoing, with Pakistan acting as a mediator in indirect talks. However, Iran has reiterated that it will not engage in direct negotiations with US officials, further complicating the path to a lasting resolution.

Despite the ceasefire, both sides continue to project strength publicly—each framing the situation as a strategic advantage. Experts warn that without concrete progress in negotiations, the current calm may only be temporary, with the risk of renewed escalation still high.
