UAE Foils Nearly 750,000 Cyberattack Attempts Targeting Key Sectors
The United Arab Emirates has thwarted nearly 750,000 cyberattack attempts in recent months, according to the UAE Cybersecurity Council. The reported attempts targeted several important sectors, particularly energy and education.
The detected threats included remote code execution attempts, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, phishing campaigns and cyberattacks involving artificial intelligence (AI), along with other sophisticated digital threats.
The council clarified that an increase in detected cyberattack attempts does not necessarily mean that systems were successfully breached. Instead, it reflects the country's ability to identify suspicious activity, respond to threats and reduce potential risks.
According to the council, these attempts were detected and countered through a national cybersecurity system that uses continuous monitoring, early threat detection, advanced analysis and proactive response in coordination with relevant authorities.
The initiative aims to protect the UAE's digital infrastructure, strengthen the resilience of vital sectors and help ensure the continuity of essential digital services.
The UAE is also continuing to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities through advanced technologies, AI-based tools and closer cooperation between relevant authorities. These measures are intended to help the country respond to changing cyber threats and improve its digital defences.
The council reiterated that protecting digital infrastructure and essential sectors remains a national priority.
