UAE Donor Saves Saudi Boy
Saudi Boy Receives Life-Saving Heart Transplant Through UAE-Saudi Cooperation
A seven-year-old Saudi boy with advanced heart failure has received a life-saving heart transplant, made possible by a brain-dead donor in Abu Dhabi. Doctors at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) in Riyadh, in coordination with the Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation and the UAEās Hayat programme, performed the successful operation.
The donorās heart was transported via private aircraft from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh and transplanted within the critical five-hour medical window, giving the child a second chance at life. The procedure highlights the importance of cross-border collaboration and the humanitarian role of donor families.
KFSHRC is renowned for pioneering achievements, including the worldās first fully robotic heart transplant and robotic artificial heart pump implantation without chest incision.
