UAE Weather: Cooler Temperatures, Dusty and Partly Cloudy Skies Expected This Weekend
Residents across the UAE can expect a slight drop in temperatures and partly cloudy skies heading into the weekend, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The weather bureau said that conditions will generally remain fair to partly cloudy, with dusty patches in some western regions, particularly Al Dhafrah, on Friday, November 7.
The change in weather marks the gradual transition toward the UAE’s cooler months, bringing some relief after several weeks of relatively warm and humid conditions.
Temperatures to Dip Slightly
The NCM forecast indicates that daytime highs across most parts of the country will fall by 1–3°C compared to earlier in the week.
In Dubai, temperatures are expected to range between 22°C and 32°C, while Abu Dhabi will record a slightly cooler range of 23°C to 30°C. Sharjah is expected to see a high of 32°C and a low of 20°C, while interior regions such as Al Ain may experience higher daytime readings.
On Thursday, the highest temperature recorded nationwide was 35.7°C in Sweihan (Al Ain) at around 3pm — one of the warmest readings this week.
Meteorologists say that the downward temperature trend will continue into the weekend as winds shift direction and cloud cover increases slightly in coastal and desert regions.
Dusty Conditions and Light Winds
The weather will remain fair to partly cloudy, but some areas — particularly those in the western and southern parts of the country — may experience intermittent dust and sand due to moderate winds.
The NCM said Northeasterly to Southeasterly winds will blow at speeds ranging between 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally freshening up to 35 km/h at times. These winds may reduce horizontal visibility in open areas, especially during the midday and afternoon hours.
“Residents should be cautious when driving in desert areas or on highways where dust may briefly lower visibility,” an NCM spokesperson said.
Despite the dust, the air quality is expected to remain within moderate limits, though sensitive individuals — such as those with asthma or allergies — are advised to limit outdoor exposure during windy periods.
Sea Conditions: Calm in Both Gulfs
Seafarers and beachgoers can expect generally calm sea conditions. The NCM noted that the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will remain slight, with only mild surface movement throughout the day.
This makes Friday a good day for light outdoor marine activities, though boat operators should still remain attentive to weather updates, as coastal winds may strengthen slightly during the afternoon.
Cloud Cover and Regional Variations
Partly cloudy skies are expected to appear over Al Dhafrah, Abu Dhabi’s western coastline, and some southern parts of the country. Internal areas might also witness occasional patches of low clouds early in the morning.
Northern emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah may experience slightly cooler night temperatures due to clearer skies. Residents in mountainous regions can expect lows dipping below 20°C, providing a refreshing contrast to the day’s mild heat.
“This is typical transitional weather for November,” explained a forecaster at the NCM. “We’re moving from late summer conditions into the cooler phase of the year, so temperature fluctuations and light dust are quite normal during this period.”
Weekend Outlook
The overall forecast for the weekend suggests stable and comfortable weather, ideal for outdoor gatherings and travel. However, residents are advised to stay hydrated during the daytime and wear light layers for early mornings or late evenings when temperatures drop.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to remain mostly fair, with mild daytime warmth and cooler evenings. Cloud cover may increase slightly over eastern and southern regions, but the chance of rain remains low for now.
“The coming week could see another minor temperature drop, especially in the northern and interior areas,” the NCM added, hinting at an approaching cooler phase as November progresses.
Tips for Residents
Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during dusty hours.
Secure loose objects on balconies or rooftops when winds pick up.
Keep track of real-time weather alerts on the UAE Weather app or the NCM’s official website.
For drivers, use fog and hazard lights if visibility drops due to blowing dust.
Conclusion
As the UAE steps deeper into November, residents can look forward to cooler days, clearer evenings, and pleasant breezes — a welcome prelude to the country’s much-loved winter season.
With temperatures easing across the Emirates and fair skies dominating the forecast, this weekend is set to offer the perfect balance between comfort and calm — classic early-winter weather in the UAE.
