My Abu Dhabi: Hamdan Al Qubaisi on Majboos, Majlis and the Heaven of Life
Abu Dhabi: Emirati Hamdan Al Qubaisi describes Abu Dhabi as a city of love and a place he considers a āheaven on earthā.
Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, the 29-year-old says his family's roots in the city go back through generations. When asked to describe Abu Dhabi in three words, he chose āsafe, power, lifeā.
For Hamdan, safety is one of the city's defining qualities. He believes the calm atmosphere of Abu Dhabi is an important part of the good life enjoyed by families living there.
He describes the emirates through their different characteristics, saying Abu Dhabi represents calm, Dubai is known for tourism and Sharjah for culture. In his view, Abu Dhabi's strength lies in its sense of stillness and security.
Hamdan also has a personal place near the Corniche where he likes to sit, enjoy a drink and watch the city around him. From there, views of the Etihad Towers and Qasr Al Watan add to his connection with the city.
He says that when he spends time in the majlis, he likes to stay informed about the news so that he can contribute something meaningful to conversations.
For Hamdan, Abu Dhabi is more than just a city. His connection to its people, family life, safety and atmosphere is what makes it special to him.
