Salah and Its Importance
Salah, also known as Namaz, is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is an essential act of worship that encourages spiritual discipline, remembrance of Allah and regular devotion.
Friday congregational prayer, known as Jumuah, is also an important part of Muslim religious life and is performed in place of the regular Dhuhr prayer by those for whom it is obligatory.
Understanding Rakats
The obligatory (Fard) rakats in the five daily prayers are:
Fajr: 2
Dhuhr: 4
Asr: 4
Maghrib: 3
Isha: 4
Muslims perform wudu, or ablution, before Salah. The prayer includes positions such as standing (Qiyam), bowing (Ruku), prostration (Sajdah) and sitting (Tashahhud).
