Dubai Startup Revibe Raises $17 Million to Redefine Gadget Buying
Dubai: Buying a smartphone or laptop that feels brand new—without paying the full price of a new device—may soon become far more common in the UAE and beyond. Revibe, a Dubai-based startup focused on refurbished and renewed electronics, has raised $17 million in fresh funding to accelerate its growth and reshape how consumers think about buying gadgets.
The latest funding round was led by global investment firm Partech, with participation from E& Capital, Burda Principal Investments, EQNX, and existing investors. According to the company, the capital will be used to enhance product quality standards, improve customer experience, strengthen technology, and support expansion beyond the Gulf into Africa and other emerging markets.
Founded in 2022, Revibe operates as a marketplace for high-quality refurbished smartphones, laptops, and MacBooks. Though headquartered in Dubai, the company has already established a footprint in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, with Egypt serving as a major operational hub. This regional presence has helped Revibe understand diverse consumer behaviors while building a scalable platform.
Hamza Iraqui, co-founder and co-CEO of Revibe, described the funding as a strong endorsement of the company’s core belief: refurbished devices should never feel like a compromise. He emphasized that the platform’s mission is to deliver electronics that are “as good as new” in daily use, while offering customers meaningful savings and a more sustainable alternative to buying brand-new products.
Changing buyer habits, however, has been one of Revibe’s biggest challenges. Iraqui explained that the company’s main competition isn’t another refurbished marketplace, but the deeply ingrained habit of purchasing brand-new devices straight from retail stores. In markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where many consumers upgrade their phones or laptops every one or two years, the demand exists—but trust remains the key barrier.
To overcome this, Revibe has built its business around reliability and reassurance. Every device sold on the platform undergoes a detailed 50-point quality check before being listed. In addition, purchases come with a 12-month warranty and access to in-house customer support, ensuring buyers have direct assistance if any issues arise after purchase.
Iraqui noted that even brand-new electronics can have defects, so Revibe’s focus is not just on fixing devices, but on ensuring customers feel protected. Whether a product requires repair or replacement, the company aims to provide the same level of confidence buyers expect when purchasing a new device.
Unlike traditional retailers, Revibe does not buy and store its own inventory. Instead, it operates a technology-driven, asset-light marketplace model. Approved sellers list refurbished devices on the platform, while Revibe’s systems continuously monitor seller performance, quality scores, and customer satisfaction.
Sellers who maintain high standards are allowed to continue operating, while those that fall short can be restricted or removed. This built-in competition around quality, Iraqui explained, ensures consistent standards without requiring large warehouses or heavy inventory costs. The model also allows the company to scale rapidly across borders.
Revibe earns revenue through commissions on each sale, while investing heavily in technology, marketing, customer care, and talent. This focus enables the platform to maintain high service levels while growing into new markets.
Although smartphones and laptops currently represent the core of Revibe’s business, the company’s ambitions go far beyond these categories. Iraqui revealed that Revibe is already expanding into adjacent products such as tablets, smartwatches, health devices, and televisions. Over the next two years, the platform is expected to broaden further into home appliances, audio equipment, and other consumer electronics.
The guiding principle, he said, is that almost any electronic device can be refurbished to a high standard if proper processes, testing, and quality controls are applied.
Revibe works with a wide range of suppliers, from professional refurbishers to merchants handling lightly used or returned products. These devices are professionally cleaned, tested, repaired where needed, and then sold as certified units. This approach offers buyers an alternative to informal online listings or small repair shops, where warranties and quality guarantees are often absent.
Building trust among UAE and Saudi consumers—who are accustomed to shiny, unopened boxes—has required sustained investment in awareness and education. Marketing efforts have focused on explaining how refurbished devices are tested, why they are reliable, and how choosing refurbished options benefits both personal budgets and the environment.
According to Iraqui, this shift in mindset does not happen overnight. It is a gradual, sometimes costly process of encouraging a new habit rather than creating a short-term promotional buzz. Despite this, Revibe has already attracted hundreds of thousands of customers across different age groups and income levels.
The long-term goal is clear: to make refurbished electronics a normal, everyday choice. Whenever someone considers buying a new phone, laptop, or gadget, Revibe wants refurbished to be seen not as a lesser alternative, but as a smart, responsible, and trusted option.
