Iran’s Ghalibaf Schools Hegseth with Brutal Geography Lesson: ‘Good Luck Blockading Us’

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has taken a sharp swipe at the United States, mocking its reported plans to impose a blockade on Iran with a pointed “geography lesson” aimed at U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

In a viral post on social media platform X, Ghalibaf ridiculed the feasibility of blockading Iran by highlighting the sheer size of the country’s borders. He compared Iran’s total border length to hypothetical walls stretching across the United States, noting that even two coast-to-coast walls would still fall short of matching Iran’s border size.

“Good luck blockading a country with those borders,” he said, adding a sarcastic note directed at Hegseth: “1 km = 0.62 miles.”

The remarks come amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with Washington reportedly exploring both military and economic pressure strategies, including potential maritime restrictions and expanded sanctions. Tehran, however, has consistently pushed back, signaling that it views such measures as ineffective and unrealistic.

Ghalibaf’s comments reflect a broader pattern of defiance from Iranian leadership, which has increasingly used social media to challenge U.S. narratives and demonstrate resilience. His remarks also underscore Iran’s strategic confidence, particularly regarding its geography and control over key regional routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

The exchange highlights the ongoing war of words between the two sides, even as diplomatic and military tensions continue to simmer. While the U.S. weighs its next steps, Iran appears keen to project strength and dismiss the viability of external pressure tactics.
